WebP
A modern image format developed by Google that provides superior compression and quality compared to JPEG and PNG.
WebP images are typically 25–35% smaller than equivalent JPEG images at the same quality. Smaller images mean faster LCP because less data needs to be downloaded. WebP supports both lossy and lossless compression, transparency (like PNG), and animation. All major browsers now support WebP, making it the recommended format for photographs and complex images.
